About Us
I started building and flying model aircraft when I was 12 years old. That was in 1975. Although I enjoy flying, my greatest love has been designing and building model airplanes. About three years ago, I decided that a better trainer aircraft was needed to help new people learn how to fly. This was especially needed for kids, who might be tempted to buy that ready to fly trainer that doesn't really fly that well. I set a number of goals that I felt would accomplish this and began to design, build and test planes. These goals were as follows.
  • It had to fly slow to give the pilot time to react.
  • It had to be durable to survive a rough landing or a crash.
  • It had to be overpowered to get out of trouble and to handle the wind.
  • It had to be easy to go from in the box to flight ready.
  • I had to look like a real airplane.
  • It had to be big enough to fly in many weather environments and to make it easier to see.
  • It should be fun to fly so you don't tire of it once you learn.
  • Assembly and disassembly should be easy to allow simpler transportation.
  • The last and most important design goal is that it had to be able to land by itself with no pilot assistance.
With the SlowBipe I think that we accomplished all of these goals. Since I was a kid I dreamed of building a plane that anyone could fly. I think that this plane is as close as I can get to this.

If you find a field with lots of space, follow the instructions that come with this plane and do a few imaginary flights before you fly, you will be successful at learning to fly.
